The incident occurred at the intersection of Krynaw and Trichardt roads, at around 11pm.
Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Lieut Juanita Coetzer said the officer is in critical but stable condition in hospital.
Coetzer said the details surrounding the incident are not yet clear.
No one has been arrested and the police are investigating.
