BB Gun ready to fire at EFC 47
Barend Nienaber says he won’t let his next opponent, Tumisang ‘The President’ Madiba, stand in his way of winning the EFC featherweight title.
The two square off at EFC 47 at Carnival City on March 5.
The win will put the man, also known as BB Gun, well on course to challenge for the title following his impressive victory against Pierre Botha at EFC 46 last year.
“I’m going for the title,” said the 27-year-old from Boksburg.
“I should be in for a shot if I win this one, and I will be champion this year.”
Daniel Henry is the current champion.
This will be the second clash between the two but the first one in their respective professional careers, and Nienaber has admitted that it won’t go as smooth-sailing as his win during their amateur times.
“He’s developed a lot since then,” continued Nienaber.
“He’s ranked as one of the top five in our division, he’s going to bring the fight, it’s going to be war but I will be victorious in the end.
“I’m also a different fighter today since joining the Champions in Training (CIT) camp in Pretoria which is one of the best in the country, so Madiba is going to have his hands full.
“I know he’ll want to take me down after I give him the first punch but I’ll be ready for him. We train hard to fight easy at CIT.”
Before his impressive win against Botha at EFC 46, Nienaber had nasal surgery in April, forcing him into a seven-month hiatus. – @SabeloBoksburg
