Heavily armed robbers storm scrap yard

Police are investigating a business robbery, after a gang of five men, all carrying firearms, robbed a scrap yard this morning (October 28).

The crooks stormed the business on Hospital Road, next to the Boksburg Lake, and held staff at gunpoint, before stealing an undisclosed amount of cash and a cellphone.

They then fled the scene on foot. No shots were fired and no one was injured.

The heavily armed robbers remain at large and are believed to be dangerous.

Police are appealing for any information that may lead to the thugs’ capture and conviction.

According to the Boksburg SAPS’s Lieut Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese, the thugs, travelling in two cars, arrived at the victim’s home and found him in the garage.

They threatened him with firearms and demanded the keys to his Audi, worth about R25 000.

He surrendered the keys and they drove off in his car.
