CBC bowlers lead Spurs’ demise

A dominant performance with the leather by CBC Old Boys trio George Viviers, Altus Pretorius and Willie Bernhardt led the local Premier XI side to a convincing seven-wicket away victory, over Actonville Spurs, on Sunday, October 11.

Viviers, in particular, produced a devastating bowling performance and was solely responsible for toppling half of Spurs’ batting line-up – finishing with 5/28 across eight overs, including two maidens, as CBC built on their flying start to the new campaign.

The local side cruised past Tembisa in their opening match, with a thumping 130-run victory.

Pretorius finished with 3/32 in seven overs, while Bernhardt produced 2/3 in two overs, as the visitors suffocated the home side with a limited 106 all-out in 33 overs.

The stage, then, was set for CBC’s batsmen to chase down the measly target of 107 and it didn’t take them long to do so.

Wickus Germishuizen’s unbeaten 50 and Tyrone Cameron’s eight not-out steered Shaun Liebisch’s troops to the win untroubled, as their side finished with 110/3 in just 14.4 overs.

CBC’s lost wickets included Akashay Maharaj (eight), Adam Forbes (six) and Nicholas Lockyer (22). – @SabeloBoksburg
