Karting starlet heads to Italy

Parkrand karting starlet Jayden Els will head to Italy for the World Rok Karting finals, following an outstanding season that’s seen him shine in races across the country.

The 11-year-old Leeuwenhof Academy student booked his spot for the European country following outstanding performances in Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Vereeniging, Pretoria and KZN.

Els earned qualification along with Altan Bouw (13), from Alberton.

This year, which is his first competing in national championships, has seen him finish first overall in a tournament in Vereeniging and third overall in the South African Mini Rok Class.

His other accolades include finishing second overall at a regional championship event in the Cadet 50cc Class, in 2012, and finishing in the top 10 in the Mini Rok 60cc Class, last year.

Els, who is from a motorsport passionate family, began karting in 2012 and is set to depart for Italy in October, the month in which the finals are scheduled to be staged. – @SabeloBoksburg
