SHOCKING: Cat trapped in tree for five days

A cat had to be rescued after being trapped in a high tree for approximately five days.

The Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) rescued the cat from its misery on August 19.

The cat was rescued the same day the situation was brought to the attention of the SPCA.

Boksburg SPCA inspector, Shimmy Mashamaite, immediately responded to the complaint.

On his arrival at the premises in Madeley Road, Boksburg North, it was discovered that the cat was too high up in the tree for Mashamaite to rescue and the DEMS had to be called out.

According to Mashamaite the fire-fighters responded swiftly to his call and the cat was safely rescued.

Tree branches reportedly had to be chopped off.

“Unfortunately, the SPCA is not in possession of tall ladders to rescue animals that are trapped at high levels,” said the SPCA manager, Maggie Mudd.

“If people leave the animal alone and go away, it will eventually come down; but after five days, we have to step in.” @IschkeBoksburg
