EFC star JP Kruger raring to go
EFC Africa middleweight star JP Kruger has said he is raring to go as he nears full recovery from a horrendous spine injury he suffered in February, this year.
Tinkerbell, as he’s fondly known by his fans, suffered the career-threatening injury during the build-up to EFC’s first show of 2015, EFC 37, at Carnival City, for what was going to be his long awaited return to the hexagon.
His return was, unfortunately and frustratingly, in his case, further delayed when scans revealed that he had caused damage to his C4-5 and C6-7 vertebrae during a training wrestling session, as he prepared to face Darren Daniel – and needed surgery to repair the damage.
Fast-forward six months to recent times and Tinkerbell is in a far better place and seems set for a sensational return to the EFC hexagon.
Asked about his road to recovery, Kruger responded: “The recovery has been super blessed, I’m about 95 per cent and looking forward to trading leather (fighting) in February.
“I’ve been working loads of strength and conditioning for my neck and back with my team coaches. I’ve also got myself a grappling coach, so I’ve been working on technique and movement in training, making sure I stay in the game.
“My management team and the Pro League have been great, making sure I get the right training and treatment.
”I’m hungry to get back in there (the hexagon) and desperate to trade some leather.”
Kruger was scheduled to return to full fitness next month, by his specialist, but looks set for further recovery work beyond that. – @SabeloBoksburg
