East Rand United break VUT hearts
East Rand United showed their big match temperament to edge 21-18 in their Merlin League cracker against Vaal University of Technology in Vanderbijlpark on Saturday, August 1.
Trailing 18-14 during the match’s dying minutes, the Reiger Park outfit remained composed and rallied before breaking VUT hearts with a last gasp converted try after the hooter.
The win took United to 39 points and secured their runner-up position behind Nigel – who finished as the league’s round-robin champions with a commanding 50 points.
United face Sasolburg in Reiger Park for their semi-final showdown on Saturday, August 15.
