Man stabbed to death during early-morning tavern brawl

A 24-year-old Ramaphosa man, Gift Sithole, died after he was stabbed multiple times at a tavern in Ramaphosa.

The incident apparently took place in full view of other patrons in the tavern, during the early hours of Sunday, July 19.

The deceased is believed to have had an argument with the suspect, before the stabbing.

Sithole sustained multiple injuries to his chest and back, and died at the scene.

This is according to Reiger Park SAPS spokesperson Sgt Mashudu Phathela.

After following up on crucial information, police managed to track down the alleged killer, a 33-year-old man, within a few hours.

He was charged with murder and made his first court appearance on Monday, July 20.

The accused was remanded in custody and is expected back in court for a formal bail application, next week. – @FanieFLK
