According to Dawn Park police spokesperson Capt Charles Tshabalala, the man was brutally killed after being suspected of committing a string of house robberies in Mapleton Extension 12.
“The man, according to some of the residents, was caught burglarising houses, which led to the community taking the law into their own hands,” he said.
“He was tied up, petrol was poured all over his body and then set alight. He died on the scene.
“The victim’s accomplice managed to escape.”
