Witfield Park donates winter knitting stock to aid charities
Every year the Witfield Park Retirement Centre knitting group knits winter attire for different charity organisations.
The four organisations which benefited from the project this time around were the Rekopane Inclusive Development Centre, Angel Wings, Germiston Social Council and Ithembelihle School.
The knitted items were handed over on April 30, at the Witfield Park Retirement Centre.
The knitting group, consisting of approximately 12 Witfield Park residents, knitted a total of 77 blankets, 74 pairs of bed socks, 82 beanies, 57 scarves, and 35 pairs of booties, which were divided between the various beneficiaries.
The Wool Centre, as well as Witfield Park residents who don’t knit, donated wool to this project.
The group knits for an hour every Thursday, under the guidance of Pamela du Toit (leader) and Rose Will (co-leader).
According to du Toit, they had already started on this year’s winter stock, last year.
“I am very happy with the end result, we have achieved a lot,” she said.
“We want to thank the members of the knitting group for their efforts in supporting this worthy cause.” – @IschkeBoksburg
