Cricket: Boksburg crush Nigel
The Boksburg Cricket Club matched a devastating bowling performance with a ruthless showing with the bat as they made light work of table-topping Nigel, in their Promotion League encounter, at the Jim Fouche Park ground, on Sunday, March 8.

The visitors, who opted to bat after the coin toss, were limited to just 88 runs in 23 overs, courtesy of a top performance by Ruben Scheepers with the leather, taking 4/25 in eight overs, including one maiden.
Opening batsmen John Haywood, Herman Meyer Junior, Carel du Preez and Morne Badenhorst took one wicket each to complete a collective clinical attacking performance.
In response, Boksburg just needed the first wicket partnership between Haywood and Michael Holtzhausen and 8.1 overs to chase down the 89-run target put up by the hosts.
The pair combined for 92, including 16 boundaries, as Haywood finished with an unbeaten 47 and Holtzhausen with 41 not out, to fire Boksburg to a 10-wicket victory.
“John and Michael batted like I know they can,” said skipper Len Meyer.
“The boys stood up to be counted when it mattered most and I’m chuffed and proud of all of them.”
Nigel captain Charl Stoop echoed his counterpart’s sentiments, saying his side failed to keep up with the visitors on the day.
“Boksburg were brilliant, they completely demolished us – they were really good on the day,” said Stoop. – @SabeloBoksburg
