Boksburg SAPS commander faces revolt on his return to work
Boksburg SAPS commander Col Biggs Govender lived up to his words by returning to work today, despite the fact that the odds are stacked against him.
He reported for duty just before 8am at the Boksburg police station, but he was at about 9am asked to go to the office of the cluster commander.
A few minutes after he had left, scores of community members arrived at the station and started protesting against him.
Community members, protested outside the premises, while a group of police members was also toy- toying in the boardroom of the station, both demanding that, Govender be removed immediately.

Provincial SAPS representatives along with Brakpan cluster commander Brig Wessie van der Westhuizen, arrived to address the angry crowd at about 12.30pm

In an exclusive interview with the Advertiser, on Wednesday, January 28, Govender said would return to work on Monday, February 2.
On Friday, January 23, Govender was asked to take a week’s leave, after a group of police members had gathered at the police station, on January 22, protesting against his leadership style and demanding that he be removed.
They leveled various accusations at him, including failure to deal with employees’ grievances properly.
