24-hour tennis at PTC
The Parkrand Tennis Complex (PTC) held its ‘X-treme’ 24-hour tennis marathon, which ran from 6pm on Friday to Saturday, November 28 and 29.
The rare event, which was held to raise funds for additional spectator seating at the Complex, saw over 70 players battle it out in four separate courts for hourly periods.
“It was a great year-end social event for families as most set-up tents on the grounds for the night and was a great experience for the children and adults alike,” said PTC chairman Owen O’Neill.
“The spirit and enthusiasm was amazing.”
PTC is looking at the prospect of making the marathon an annual event and hopes to attract more participants from the region and other clubs from Gauteng East.
