CBC suffer first loss

Duduza Cricket Club pulled off an astonishing away win over log leaders CBC Old Boys in a limited overs match on Sunday, November 30.

The visitors took all the spoils in the Premier League clash with their 11-run win via the D/L method after rain had forced the encounter’s 50 overs to be revised to 22.4 overs.

Following his win in the pre-match coin toss, Duduza skipper Mpho Nzimande sent the homeside, who were without incumbent skipper Willie Berhardt, to bat first.

Following a slow start behind the bat by the homeside, which saw opening batsman Adam Forbes sent for an early break after just eight runs, fellow opener Akshay Maharaj saw to it to re-steady his side’s run-rate with a 37 before his dismissal.

Maharaj’s ousting, however, was followed by a collapse in the homeside’s batting order with Tyron Cameron being the only other batter to reach the 30-run target (34) along with Maharaj, whose score was the highest for his side.

Stand-in captain Dylan Bennie scored 19 runs.

Duduza’s solid all-round showing was aided by exceptional bowling by Dylan Stanley with his 1/13, including five maidens in 10 overs.

Stanley’s teammate Petros Mofokeng needed no second invitation to also take advantage of a poor showing behind the bat by the homeside, taking 3/35, including two maidens in 10 overs.

Nzimande, Ben Skade and Tumelo Simelane all took two wickets each.

CBC posted 174-all out in their innings after 49 overs.
