CBC marketing officer, Teresa O’ Donoghue, says that a group of CBC boys who are all members of the College’s Edmund Rice Society, expressed interest in offering their assistance to the Urban Ruins Project.
Apart from the gifts, they also donated their time to get the project up and running throughout the year.
“Due to the generosity of a private benefactor who requested anonymity, a new bicycle was presented to the Urban Projects caretaker, Papa G, whose bicycle had been stolen some time ago.
“Lending their hard work and enthusiasm to the Urban Ruins project earlier in the year, the boys rolled up their sleeves and worked together to lay out a BMX track in the playground.

“Shovels in hand, they cleared the designated area of rubble and weeds to provide another fun activity for the children to enjoy.
“The boys also helped to mix the concrete for the skateboard area and learnt something about the art of brick-laying! The selflessness and generosity of these young men makes them true College ambassadors,” she adds.
The Edmund Rice Society is a vibrant movement in almost all schools associated with the Christian Brothers. The Society gives students the opportunity to develop their spirituality through scripture, prayer and works of charity.
