Boksburg North: Increase in drug-related crimes

The recently released crime statistics have shown an increase in drug-related crimes in the Boksburg North precinct.

The statistics show that these crimes increased from 408 cases (April 2012 to March 2013) to 710 cases.

There was an increase, across board, in crime detected as a result of police action. These included unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, drug-related crimes and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The precinct saw a decrease in contact crimes such as murder, sexual crimes, attempted murder, assault and robbery with the exception of aggravated robbery, which increased from 278 cases to 331.

A decrease was also seen in other crimes such as culpable homicide, public violence, crimen injuria, neglect or ill-treatment of children and kidnapping.

There was an increase in burglary at residential premises (from 622 to 644) and theft out of motor vehicles (from 472 to 504). – @CarmenBoksburg

  1. its seems to be getting better however what about cason its a small area but a huge problem in the veld across the school hectic things going on in there and in the alley next to tennis courts that alley should be closed and the street behind the school children shouldn’t be exposed to what we all see there, there are children living in that veld that are getting exposed to what knows please do some thing about it
