Hundreds of final notices found at Atlasville spruit
Residents of Atlasville and Reiger Park can probably find their notices in a pile of a few hundred that were found in the Atlasville Spruit on Saturday, August 30.
The notices were found in a black bag at the riverbank’s vegetation during a community service clean-up by a boy scout group.
PR Clr for Ward 73 in Benoni, Malanie Haggard, says her son was part of the scout group.
“When my son saw the black bag and saw what was inside, he knew that he should bring it to me because of the job I’m involved in,” she says.
“We’ve known that this was happening, but we didn’t have proof. My question is in how many other suburbs is this happening in, in Ekurhuleni?” asks Haggard.
“Residents get their electricity cut off, and they have to pay for a final notice delivery for a notice that they didn’t receive. We get these complaints as councillors all the time,” she adds.
Haggard says herself and Ward 23 Clr Andre du Plessis will be following up on the matter.
