Boksburg’s Madi wins bronze in Glasgow
Wrestling took stage on the seventh day of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, on Wednesday, July 30, with Boksburg’s Mpho Madi winning bronze in the women’s 53kg division.
Madi defeated the host’s Shannon Hawke by fall to boost the country’s medal tally.
Nigeria’s Odunayo Adekuoroye of Nigeria took gold with India’s Lalita completing the podium.
Elsewhere, Adem Digovich, who also wrestles out of Boksburg, finished ninth in the men’s 125kg division.
Team SA had totalled 31 medals by the end of competition on Wednesday, two shy of their overall total they collected in India four years ago. -@SabeloBoksburg
