Boksburg finish Peregrine League round-robin in style

Kaufela Boksburg completed their Community Cup qualifying, Valke Peregrine League round-robin stage with an emphatic 60-34 win over Vaal Reefs to seal third spot at Prince George Park on Saturday, July 19.

The Owls, who’ve finished behind second-placed G5 Metals Brakpan and number one-placed Springs, crossed the whitewash on nine occasions on their way to sealing a bonus-point victory. Vaal Reefs earned a bonus point of their own for scoring five tries. According to Boksburg skipper, Dirk Bloem, the Owls used ball-in-hand more effectively in the match. “We gave our backline better quality ball from the set phase, which made it easier for us to get some points on the board, and our defense was a little better than the previous week,” says Bloem. By “previous week”, Bloem was referring to the 47-16 loss to old foes Brakpan on July 12. With the number one spot secured, Springs earn themselves automatic qualification to next year’s Cell C Community Cup tournament. – @SabeloBoksburg
