Temporary road closures on the R21
Sanral is advising motorists travelling south-bound on the R21 freeway north-east of the Kempton Park CBD to take note of temporary lane closures.

The temporary closures of some lanes will take place on the deviation of the R21 south-bound, located between the OR Tambo International Airport and Olifantsfontein, about 400m south of the R23 interchange.
This deviation was opened to traffic on June 24, and will be in place for approximately 12 months.
This deviation will allow construction of two new bridges on the R21 by private developers, which will allow provision of a new road to be built under the freeway.
Engineers now need to make some urgent improvements to the deviation.
Note that:
* Speed will be reduced to 60km/h during the day.
* During this period, the existing four lanes will be reduced to two lanes at a time.
*Traffic officials will be in attendance during the switching over exercise.
* After the work has been completed, the temporary lane closures will be removed and the deviation will revert to four lanes.
* The deviation will remain in place for a period of approximately 12 months during which time a speed reduction of 100km will be in force.
Motorists are requested to be vigilant during the closure of lanes exercise, and to comply with the speed reduction signs and instructions given by traffic officials.
Sanral apologises for the inconvenience caused during the construction period. – @CarmenBoksburg
