Entries open for Ekurhuleni 5150 African Champs

The Ekurhuleni 5150 African Championships are back and this time with an all-new bike route.

The Germiston Lake will once again be the setting for Gauteng’s biggest triathlon, with the action set to take place on Sunday, November 2.

The flagship race of the 5150 African Triathlon Series drew a field of 1 300 individuals and 25 teams in its inaugural year and looks set to be even better this year with the introduction of the new bike route.

The out-and-back route will take the athletes along the N17 as part of the 40km bike leg. The N17 will have restricted road use and only two cross-over points making it ideal for cyclists.

Being a standard distance triathlon, the race consists of a 1.5km swim in the Germiston Lake, followed by the 40km bike leg and 10km run.

The Championships provide a stern test of fitness and will push athletes to the best of their abilities.

Entries are now open online until October 12 and are priced at R880 per individual and R1350 per team.
