Springs edge nail-biter against Boksburg

Kaufela Boksburg succumbed to a late Springs penalty after the full-time hooter, to go down 33-30 at the Olympia Park Stadium, on Saturday, June 21.

The victory put the hosts in a firm position to finish on top of the Valke Peregrine log, with 28 points from six games – six ahead of second-placed G5 Metals Brakpan and 12 ahead of third-placed Boksburg.

“We did everything right; it was a step-up from our last game,” said the Owls’ assistant coach, Phillip Lemmer.

“We had an opportunity to secure the game from our own penalty in stoppage time, but Ashley’s [Buchler] effort fell just short before they (Springs) scored the decisive penalty.

“I am proud of the boys, they played really well.”
