Vacant ward sector elections to be held

All organised formations, interested groups and community-based sectors are invited to nominate and register candidates for the filling of vacancies on the ward 32 committee.

The ward councillor is John Hendricks.

Ward 32 includes the following suburbs: Parkrand, Parkdene, Farrar Park, Cinderella, Libradene, Boksburg South, Boksburg East, the Boksburg CBD and Plantation:

The following sectors are currently vacant:

* Infrastructure Services

* SHRAC (Sport, Heritage, Recreation, Art and Culture)

Nominations open on July 1, at 8am, and close on July 15, at 4.30pm.

Nomination forms are available at the following venues during office hours:

* Boksburg Library (Trichardts Road).

* Boksburg Civic Centre reception

Completed documents for the nominations may be handed in at Room 227, Second floor, Boksburg Civic Centre, on or before the closing date

Who may be elected as a member of the ward committee:

* Must be 18 years or older.

* Must be a SA citizen.

* Must be on the voter’s roll in Ekurhuleni and a resident in the ward.

* A non-resident of the ward but who is registered on the voter’s roll of Ekurhuleni may be nominated by a sector, should that person be able to demonstrate in writing that he/she has an interest in that ward.

* Must not owe council, or be in arrears with rates and taxes, but, if so, must be willing to make the necessary arrangements according to the metro’s Credit Control Policy.

Elections will be held on July 22, at 6pm, in the Boksburg Library Auditorium (Trichardts Road).

Who may vote:

* Must be 18 years or older.

* Must be a resident in the ward.

* Must be a registered voter in the Ekurhuleni Municipality.

* Must be in possessions of a SA ID.
