Voting irregularities experienced in Boksburg

Although the voting process was well oganised and went smoothly at the vast majority of polling stations in Boksburg, a few voting stations allegedly experienced hiccups.

According to Bronwynn Basson, the ballot boxes at the Sunward Park, Parkdene and Parkrand polling stations weren’t sealed.

One voter, Earle Hunter, also says ballot boxes at certain stations were unmarked.

The voting station at Parkdene Primary allegedly caused the biggest headaches for Boksburg voters.

“Parkdene Primary was so disorganised,” says Linda Rowell.

Apparently, there were voters who stood in the queue for almost five hours due to organisational chaos and people jumping the queue.

Some voting stations also opened later than the 7am scheduled time.

According to Bongani Radebe, the polling station in Reiger Park for Ramaphosa residents opened a little late, but thereafter everything went well.

Another voter, Hercules Schoombee, says Sunward Park opened 45 minutes late.

By the time of publication, the Advertiser did not receive a response from the IEC regarding an enquiry on above-mentioned irregularities.
