Over 100 gather to bid farewell to slain police officer

Police officers, friends and family members gathered at the Salome Church in Boksburg CBD to bid farewell to the slain police officer, Marius John, on Wednesday, April 30.

According to the police, John’s body was found in the bushes, near Freedom Park informal settlement, Villa Liza, on Sunday, April 20, a day after he went missing.

A post-mortem report revealed that John suffered a gunshot wound.

Investigators are still trying to establish where, why and how John was killed.

His colleagues referred to him as a brother and a best police officer, who was dedicated to his job.

John will be laid to rest in the Northern Cape, on Saturday, May 10.
