Employee steals R800 000 from school

Kaya Rainie Ready stole R798 039, from May 2012 to May 2013, while she was employed at Sunward Park High School.

She recently appeared in the Boksburg Magistrates Court on 126 counts of fraud.

At the time of the incidents, the accused was employed as an admin clerk at the school.

She defrauded the school by falsifying invoices from Hyperbuild Sand and Stone, with her banking details on the invoices.

She also stole R1 868 in cash from the school.

During her plea bargain, the accused was ordered to 18 months imprisonment, suspended for five years for counts one to 30, the same for counts 31 to 61, 62 to 90, and three years imprisonment, suspended for five years for counts 91 to 111 and counts 112 to 139.

She was also ordered to make 60 repayments to the school, starting in June, of R12 078.11.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter, and Angeline Mooiman appeared on behalf of the State.
