
However, the father claims that his son rolled off his bed and fell to the floor, before he became unresponsive.
According to the police, the child sustained a number of injuries in his body, which apparently caused him to have breathing difficulties.
“The suspect took the child to Tambo Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted. Considering the extent of the boy’s injuries, a doctor called the police, who arrested the father and had him prosecuted.”
He appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court, where he faced a count of grievous bodily harm (GBH) assault, on Wednesday, April 16.
The police believe that the attack on the child happened a few days before the child was taken to hospital.
The child lives with his father, and his mother died some time ago.
“Because of the child’s severely injured body, he was transferred to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital, for further examination and treatment.”
The matter is being investigated by the SAPS FCS Unit.
