Metro’s youth celebrates 20 years of democracy in song

It's 20 years since the dawn of democracy, and Ekurhuleni youth will gather in unity of melodic art to commemorate the gains achieved by the democratic order, on Saturday, April 5, at the Germiston Lake Park.

The Youth Festival will provide young people with an opportunity to reflect on the democratic dispensation, from 10am until late.

About 10 000 young people from around Ekurhuleni are expected to converge on the Germiston Lake, to participate in the festival, which brings together an array of premier musos in the South African music industry.

Already, 6 800 youths have confirmed that they will attend.

The event will feature 20 solo and group performances in various artistic forms. The audience can expect exhilarating performances from entertainment heavyweights such as DJ Tira, Zahara, Zakes Bantwini, Kwesta, Tear Gas, Tbo – Touch, Donald, Shimza, Micasa, DJ Sbu and DJ Picat “da italian” and many more.

The metro will provide two buses to the festival at each Customer Care Centre.

The buses will depart at 9am.

Entrance to the venue is free, but people are required to register on www.ekurhuleniyouthfestival.co.za.

Upon registering, festival patrons will receive SMSes containing their unique code, which will grant them access to the stadium.
