The following cases were heard in the Boksburg Magistrates Court:

* Zanele Zwane (22), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, and was found guilty, on March 4, and sentenced on March 25, to 24 months imprisonment of which 18 months was suspended for five years.

On February 17 the accused stole one Nike cap from Edgars, to the value of R169.95.

He had a previous conviction of house break-in from June, 2013.

Magistrate Jurg Viviers presided over the matter, and Khato Ranwedzi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Marry Nbele appeared in court on a charge of theft.

She pleaded guilty, and was found guilty, on February 6, and was sentenced on March 25 to R2 000 or six months imprisonment.

On January 29, the accused stole two bottles of Centrum vitamins from Clicks, to the value of R355.

She had a previous conviction of dealing in dangerous dependency producing drugs.

* Tsediso Somty (18) appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, and was found guilty, on January 29, and was sentenced on March 26, to three years imprisonment.

On January 10, the accused stole car wiring from Simon Matsena.

He had previous convictions of theft from October, 2009, and housebreak-in from October, 2010.

* Naledy Magashula (39), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of assault.

She pleaded guilty, and was found guilty, on March 5, and sentenced on March 26. The magistrate postponed sentencing.

On January 25, the accused assaulted Selepe Lehopana by biting him on his eyelid.

* Simon Maphakane (40), from the Randfontein SAPS, appeared in court on a charge of assault.

He pleaded not-guilty on June 7, 2013, was found guilty, and sentenced on March 20, to two years imprisonment suspended for five years.

On March 12, 2013, the accused assaulted Irene Maphakane by hitting her on the head with a hammer.

Magistrate Surty presided over the matter, and Busi Mafokeng appeared on behalf of the State.

* Lazarus Bakira (30), a Zimbabwean national, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on March 18, to six months imprisonment which is suspended for five years.

He was also found unfit to possess a firearm.

On January 31, the accused stole an earth leakage circuit breaker, to the value of R520, from Albro Industries in Anderbolt.

Magistrate Josias presided over the matter, and Ntombi Mbonani appeared on behalf of the State.

* Joseph Mogale (22) appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on March 20, to R5 000 or eight months imprisonment.

On March 15, the accused stole a drill from, Hireworld Hardware, to the value of R2 000.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter, and Angeline Mooiman appeared on behalf of the State.

* Thabiso Matlaga (22) appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on March 19, to R6 000 or 12 months imprisonment.

On December 29, the accused stole a Tom Tom GPS and a Vahl hairclipper from Rodney Pienaar.

He had a previous conviction of contravening the domestic violence Act from May, 2013.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter, and Angeline Mooiman appeared on behalf of the State.

* Lifa Chiloane (35), from Daveyton, appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on March 20, to R3 000 or six months imprisonment suspended for five years.

On December 28, the accused stole stationery, clothes and groceries, to the value of R1 512.41, from Pick n Pay in the East Rand Mall.

Magistrate Emmanuelle Magampa presided over the matter, and Palesa Setshedi appeared on behalf of the State.

* Sinkie Moletsane (24), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of house break-in with the intent to steal.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on March 25, to five years imprisonment.

On December 14, the accused broke into the home of Vusi Mhlanga and stole a television, clothes, a drill and crockery.

Magistrate Sijren Harichand presided over the matter, and Vuthlari Mulungwa appeared on behalf of the State.

* Zakhele Miya (23), from Vosloorus, appeared in court on a charge of attempted robbery with aggravating circumstances.

He pleaded guilty, was found guilty, and sentenced on March 26, to eight years imprisonment.

On December 5, the accused assaulted Luis Khoza and attempted to steal cash from him. The accused used a toy gun.

He had a previous conviction of house break-in from February 2011.

Magistrate Sijren Harichand presided over the matter, and Vuthlari Mulungwa appeared on behalf of the State.
