Representatives from Steelcor, Unilam Pressings and Steelcor Power located a few kilometres from the school, handed over the Tata bus to school management on Wednesday, March 19.
The 28-seater bus is valued at R484 000.
Karen Auret from Steelcor says the idea came about after they recently visited the school to find out what services they could provide for or how they can help.
According to Auret, the organisation will also sponsor ballet dancing lessons for the children of the school.
Auret says Steelcor Holdings is an active participant in the community, in which it operates and will continue to support the school and other local community centres.
“We strive to empower people from the community, in which we operate our businesses. Eighty per cent of our staff members come from the community, and most of them are from the surrounding informal settlements,” says Auret.
On behalf of the school’s management team, Sonti Meso, senior administrator at the school, thanked the group of companies for their act of kindness.
