Students debate on human rights

Students from Sunward Park High and Lethulwazi and Thuto Lesedi Secondary from Vosloorus, will take part in dialogues with other students from schools around Ekurhuleni on Saturday, March 15, at the Johannesburg Constitutional Court.

The event is part of the Peermont School Support Programme (PSSP) PSSP Human Rights and Public Speaking Campaign, which was launched in 2010 to introduce dialogues at a school level about Human Rights, the Bill of Rights and South African Constitution.

The PSSP will hear out the annual arguments and judge the public speaking capabilities of junior (Grade 8-9) and senior (Grade 10-12) public high school students.

Learners will present their arguments based on what they would do if they were the most powerful person in the country.

The campaign has successfully created awareness of the current issues and challenges facing South African youth by allowing learners to associate with these challenges in a personal manner.
