Radio control room launched in Van Dyk Park
Residents in Van Dyk Park will be pleased to know that they now have access to a radio control room that will be available five days a week.

According to the Van Dyk Park Community Patrolling Initiative (CPI) spokesperson, Sherese Brink, this initiative by the CPI will give the community access to control room operators who will take radio calls from all radio users, and emergency phone calls from residents in the area.
“Their main function is to forward all information received through to the relevant people, such as the SAPS, EMPD, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Department or our Patrolling and Tactical teams.
“All concerns, complaints and community issues are welcome,” she says.
Brink says the radio control room is based at the Van Dyk Park Community Centre in the Piaza shopping complex.
“Ultimately we would like to be open for 24-hours-a -day and seven-days-a-week, but for now, we are covering between 14 to 17 hours per day, with the help and assistance of our members and our partners who volunteer their time and services,” says Brink.
