Fourie’s memorable performance floors CBC OB
Kempton Park opening batsman, Johan Fourie, produced a staggering performance by taking four wickets before making a scintillating century as Kempton secured a home victory against CBC OB on Sunday, February 2.

The homeside took full advantage of their homeground comfort as they claimed a 114-run victory in an entertaining match which produced four half centuries.
The victory puts Kempton in firm control of the Premier League log with three-round of matches remaining.
CBC OB skipper, Willie Bernhardt, who won the right to select between batting and bowling in the pre-match coin toss, sent his troops to field before the Kempton top order ran them rugged.
Fourie’s opening partner, Wesley Marshall, put up 16 as the hosts made a relatively slow start before clicking into gear in style. Second wicket Marius Lubbe’s added half-century to Fourie’s double half-century had taken the hosts to 173/3.
Lubbe finished with 51 with the latter producing a total innings of 106.
Grant Thomson’s unbeaten 50 and Clayton Ceronia’s undefeated 47 took the hosts to mammoth 278/3 in 50 overs, leaving the visitors with no room for error.
CBC had it all to do and were frustrated early on by the log leaders’ tight bowling.
Franco Scheepers was out for zero, before two more CBC wickets fell in succession: Starlet Wesley Coulentianos (5) and Dylan Bennie (4) made a combined nine as the Kempton bowlers killed the visitor’s early hopes of putting together a challenging chase.
Nicholas Lockyer lead his side’s the middle-order damage control surge with a silver-lining 50. Bernhardt scored 38 and Jan Janse van Rensburg added 35 as the visitors put together a consistent run rate for the first time in the match.
Divan Posthimus put up 21 as the middle-order combined for a total of 144.
CBC’s run was put to a halt, however, with the hosts’ bowling triggering a tail-end collapse.
The bottom-order Ray Langa, Jean Rossouw, Keith Bennie (1) and Chagan Kruger scored one run between them – with the visitors finishing with 164 in 44.4 overs – including four duck dismissals.
Fourie finished as the day’s most successful bowler with numbers of 4/13 in 6.4 overs. His teammates, Kyle Marshall and Lubbe took 3/10 and one maiden in six overs and 2/46 in seven overs, respectively.
Next for Kempton is Kwa-Thema at home and CBC will have a chance to close the gap on second-placed Benoni Northerns with a trip to Benoni.
