Witness aids CPF in nabbing suspect

With assistance from the Van Dyk Park CPF, a man has been arrested in Van Dyk Park for armed robbery.

According to Dawn Park police spokesperson Charles Tshabalala, the suspect pointed a firearm at a woman in her car at a stop sign on the R554 towards Alberton.

He demanded that she give him her phone.

Tshabalala says the suspect proceeded to walk away unaware that there was a witness to the crime.

“The witness contacted the CPF who hastily made their way to the scene with their dogs,” says Tshabalala.

Tshabalala says the CPF members followed the suspect and apprehended him before calling the police.

A case of armed robbery has been opened.
