Taxi drivers brutally shot down in Van Dyk Road

Two minibus taxi drivers were killed by an unknown gunman on Tuesday evening, January 7, on Van Dyk Road.

The first taxi was said to be heading from Dunswart to Vosloorus when a white Ford Bantam bakkie drove up next to the driver and opened fire.

According to Boksburg SAPS station commander, Biggs Govendar, the driver lost control of the vehicle and landed on the opposite side of the road. The driver was reported dead, and one passenger was injured and rushed to the hospital.

A few minutes later the same Ford Bantam had made a U-turn, and a driver of another taxi was shot at.

Govendar says no arrests have been made thus far.

Comment has not yet been received from the Vosloorus Taxi Association.

The murders of the two drivers are still being investigated.
