Fifty distinctions for Woodlands International College
Woodlands International College boasts 50 distinctions, and a 100 per cent pass rate from the results obtained by their total of 48 matriculants who wrote the final examinations in 2013.
The seven top achievers obtained four or more distinctions with 19-year-old Simon Bonarius scooping the best academic achievement with an overall average of 87 per cent.
Jesicca-Lee Bown, Tasneem Jada and Bonarius obtained distinctions in all eight subjects that they wrote.
Keagon Seddon (six distinctions), Liandi Swart (five distinctions), Danielle Norman (four distinctions) and Melissa Klopper (four distinctions) also did brilliantly.
Bonarius says he has been a top pupil throughout both his primary and high school years, attributing this to his mother pointing out to him what is important in life.
He will now be studying towards becoming an electrical engineer, as he has a passion for electronics and programming, and he wants to be part of the future which he says will be technology driven.
“I always work hard and play hard, I know how to strike a balance,” says Bonarius.
He advises the 2014 matrics to push hard, as what happens this year, will affect what happens to the rest of their lives.
“If you want to play hard for the rest of your life, you’ve got to become successful, and it starts by doing well in matric,” advises Bonarius.
