Reiger Park Active holds Christmas time trial

More than 30 athletes assembled at the Reiger Park Stadium for the Reiger Park Active Christmas time trial in association with Germiston Callies, which took place on Saturday, December 7.

The day saw 13 athletes run the 5km leg of the trial with 19 opting for the 2.5km distance.

Two lucky draws sponsored by New Balance also took place during the day, with Micheala Swarts and Gideon Rietels each winning a pair of shoes.

Leriel Sauls crossed the line first in the 5km in a time of 24 minutes and 16 seconds (24.16).

The winner of the 2.5km trial was Grant Vere who finished in 14.20 minutes.

Every athlete received a medal for participating.

Reiger Park Active is an awareness programme that’s been designed to keep people fit and drawing them away from drugs and alcohol.

The programme began on September 23, and has already attracted more than 80 members over its short existence.
