Ekurhuleni to host Leadership 2020 Megafestival

Ekurhuleni, in partnership with Leadership 2020, is set to host one of the most prolific festivals from December 1 to 5.

The festival will take place in various venues around Ekurhuleni.

Leadership 2020 is a positive change movement led by social entrepreneur, media personality and music mogul Sbusiso Leope, who with a team of entrepreneurs work daily to motivate and positively uplift the mindsets and attitudes of young South Africans.

Through the movement, opportunity is given to young business leaders to participate and benefit from input and discussions around leadership solutions and best practice from leading professionals and development leaders.

The leadership seminars are designed to empower, motivate, influence and change young lives, equipping them with the relevant tools, tips and strategies to become successful and prosper.

By 2020 it is the leaderships dream to have impacted at least 10-m lives, in the hope that one life will impact 100 lives as they become leaders and furthermore develop new attitudes and a stronger young population.

Ekurhuleni mayor Cllr Mondli Gungubele says: “The city supports this programme as it resonates with our plans to build a culture of independent young South Africans who are full of enthusiasm about their future and that of the region.”

“This is a platform that will help us to produce young people who are conscious of the significance of being South African and its meaning. The time has come for all our young people to assume responsibility of their own lives and start shaping their own future,” he adds.

The festivities will kick off with a strong focus on health and wellness in a Zumbathon, led by US instructor Syreeta Smith.

The Zumbathon will be held at Dries Niemandt Park in Kempton Park on December 1.

Ticket proceeds will go to an HIV/Aids Charity for World Aids Day.

Following the Zumbathon will be a Summer Splash picnic also at Dries Niemandt Park.

This picnic will be headlined by a host of artists featuring the likes of: Zahara, Ntando, Dr Malinga, Uhuru, Black Motion, Oskido, DJ Sbu, Shimza, DJ Zinhle and Mo Flava.

On Monday, December 2, the Mega Festival takes a serious turn with the focus being on leadership development and empowerment.

Emperors Palace will play host to the Leadership 2020 seminar, featuring a line-up of high profile speakers such as Robert Gumede, Dr David Molapo, Marlon Smith (US), JT Foxx (US), Stedman Graham (US) and Johanna Mukoki.

Ticket prices include the first ever Leadership 2020 Book, which will be launched during the same evening.

The Leadership 2020 Book is an initiative by DJ Sbu Leope, where each leader was tasked with the opportunity to contribute a chapter, talking about their various journeys on the leadership ladder.

South African President, Jacob Zuma, wrote the foreword of this book.

On December 5, renowned business coach, Marlon Smith will lead the Business Workshop at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre.

Other notable speakers to conduct the workshop include Thomas Mambande and Chris Styles.

The afternoon session will feature speakers such as Tumi Frazier, Suzanne Styles and Syreeta Smith.
