
According to Vusi Mabanga, spokesperson for the EMPD, 22 fines were issued for registration and licensing contraventions.
He adds that 165 fines were issued for moving violations and a further 65 fines for parking and stopping offences.
“Some 12 fines were issued to special motorists, for driving without their Professional Drivers Permits (PRDP).”
Mabanga says that 62 motorists were fined for driving while talking on their cellphones without a hands-free kit.
There were 20 accidents in the area, of which one resulted in serious injuries and the remainder where only damages occurred.
