CGA track and field event
Kalada Cocodia produced a dominant sprint display in the second meeting of the new 2013/ 14 Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) season.
The event, which took place at the Boksburg City Stadium on Saturday, September 28, saw the man from Peak Performance clear the field in the senior category in a time of 11 seconds and 23 seconds in both the 100m and 200m respectively.
The first track and field meeting of the season took place in Germiston a week earlier on Saturday, September 21.
In a race marred by more than two sprinters failing to hold their nerves, and subsequently getting themselves disqualified for false-starts in the 100m, Cocodia quickly got out of the blocks to lead the race from start to finish.
The masculine sprinter produced an equally impressive performance in the 200m earlier in the day to cap off a successful day.
In other events of the day, Chazel Bezuidenhout from Boksburg demonstrated a clinical performance in the girls u- 11 hurdles to finish in a time of 12.8 seconds, to strengthen her chances of qualifying for the Inter-Provincial Championships set to take place on November 23 in Potchefstroom.
The next track and field meeting will take place on Saturday, October 12, with the venue yet to be confirmed.
