
According to Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD, five vehicles were impounded for not being roadworthy and 95 fines were issued for registration and licensing contraventions.
He adds that 122 fines were issued for moving violations and a further 135 fines for parking and stopping offences.
“Some 119 pedestrians and motorists were stopped and searched in the CBD, industrial sites, suburbs and at informal settlements and 32 fines were issued to special motorists, for driving without their Professional Drivers Permits (PRDP).”
Mokheseng says that 13 motorists were arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol.
There were 19 accidents in the area, of which three resulted in slight injuries and the remainder where only damages occured.
