Pregnant woman denied treatment

An eight-month pregnant woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, alleges that she was denied treatment at the Tambo Memorial Hospital.

According to the woman, she was taken to the hospital via ambulance, on August 28, as she had high blood pressure.

She was assessed in the emergency room and later taken to the maternity ward where they refused to assist her.

“They said that they could not help her as she didn’t have some sort of card for the hospital,” says a friend of the woman.

Dr Avis Naidoo, CEO of the hospital, was contacted for comment. At the time of going to print, no comment had been received.
