Economic opportunity seminar to be held in Boksburg
The Ekurhuleni metro says it will turn some of its focus to empowering small to medium enterprises (SMMEs) owned by people living with disabilities through an economic opportunity seminar on August 22, at the Boksburg Town Hall.

According to metro spokesperson, Sam Modiba, this initiative by the city of Ekurhuleni is aimed at dealing with the high levels of unemployment and poverty in the region.
He says the purpose of the seminar is to equip the disabled owners of SMMEs with access to information, opportunities available in the market and how to access finance.
“If we are going to effectively address the challenge of poverty and unemployment that is confronting us, we need all sectors of the business community in Ekurhuleni to be productive, and for that to happen we must play a catalytic role,” says Modiba.
He says that the municipality intends to promote and increase networks and linkages between big business and SMMEs run by people living with disabilities to leverage on business returns brought by good networking and stakeholder relations.
“We are also going to help these entrepreneurs to adhere to business regulations and compliance standards.
“Most importantly, we seek to get them on board as suppliers to the municipality as well as the provincial government by including them in our database of suppliers,” explains Modiba.
The seminar will begin at 9am on the Thursday.
