Victim wrestle loaded gun away from robber
A family of three survived a scary broad daylight home invasion on Sunday, August 11, at about 4pm.
Three armed thugs arrived at the block of flats along Buitenkant Street, near the Boksburg Police Station and robbed the family of a Blackberry cellphone.
According to Lieut Mathanda Ngobese, one of the robbers entered the flat through a window.
“While inside the flat he found the keys and used them to open the door for his partners in crime,” says Ngobese.
The trio went to the bedroom where they held the family at gunpoint, and attempted to tie up the victims.
However, one of the victims instinctively grabbed the robber’s gun, and they began to wrestle over the gun during the robbery.
During the struggle the weapon discharged and several shots were fired, but no one was injured.
The brave victim finally managed to force the gun out of the robber’s hands.
The suspects then realised that they were fighting a loosing battle and they ran off.
They made off with one of the victim’s cellphone, but left their weapon behind.
A case of house robbery was registered at the Boksburg SAPS.
A forensic test will be conducted on the firearm and police believe the firearm could be vital in tracing the robbers.
