Man arrested for cultivating dagga plants

A 27-year-old male, from Impala Park, was arrested for being in possession of an illegal substance and cultivating it in his home.

Boksburg North detective members visited the residence in Impala Park, where they found and confiscated 21 medium flower pots with young cultivated dagga plants in each.

According to Lieut Juanita Coetzer, communications officer for the Boksburg North SAPS, the detectives also confiscated a small holder with dagga seeds and others with the finished dagga product in.

“The suspects alleged that he was just experimenting, as he found and followed guidelines on an Internet website.

“Unfortunately for this gentleman, this is an illegal action in South Africa, and it is against the law to be in possession of an illegal substance,” says Coetzer.
