Reiger Park teachers up their abilities

Reiger Park Secondary School held a certificate ceremony for 13 teachers who completed the Investment of Excellence Programme, through the Pacific Institute, on Friday, July 19.

“I’ve read a lot of literature, but Investment in Excellence was just something else to me. It was real and life-changing, and I shared what I learnt with my family. It creates a future and propels you into the future,” said one of the teachers, Patrick Renze.

Sikho Mhlanga, another teacher who completed the course said: “I used to say negative things to learners, but because of this course, I say positive things to them and it helps them.”

“You as teachers have the privilege and ability to identify stars (within school pupils). Encourage and let them know that they are stars,” said Sam Alexander, CEO of the Pacific Institute.

“We at the Institute have developed a concept which improves the quality of people’s thinking. The concept is called ‘Re-imagine Reiger Park’, giving people a different perspective of what Reiger Park could be.

“We have identified churches, schools, NGO’s, the police, correctional services and the department of transport to partner with us in this initiative.”

Reiger Park Secondary School principal, Gregory Fish, said: “This is a historic milestone. This was not just training; there is a different vision that will emanate from this. Be the difference in Reiger Park.”
