Man arrested for allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend

It is alleged that the man also damaged a television set and a cellphone inside the house

A 27-year-old man has been charged with assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm after attacking his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend with a stick.

The 28-year-old girlfriend told the police that on May 15 she heard a knock at the door at her rented home in Boksburg North.

According to Boksburg North police spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube the woman said she heard a door being kicked opened and when she went to look she saw her ex-boyfriend enter the room carrying a stick.

“Before she could say a word, the ex-boyfriend began to hit both her and her boyfriend and she got hurt. It is alleged that the man also damaged a television set and a cellphone inside the house,” Ramaube said.

The victim opened a case at the Boksburg North SAPS and the ex-boyfriend was arrested on the same day.

He was scheduled to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court.
