Villa Liza Secondary looks out for their learners during lockdown

The school management decided to hand over the schools feeding scheme food to the beneficiaries during this lockdown period.

Dozens of schoolchildren in Boksburg who rely on feeding schemes have also been affected by the lockdown.

To ease some of this burden, Villa Liza Secondary School handed out food parcels to 220 learners and 50 underprivileged adults from the area on April 14.

According to the principal of Villa Liza Secondary School, Sylvia Lepheana, they decided to hand over the schools feeding scheme food to the beneficiaries of the feeding scheme during this lockdown period.

“Due to poor backgrounds, we decided to hand over the food to them so they and their families may have something to eat during this period. We also didn’t want the food to decay; hence, we decided to divide it to the needy learners. For the girl learners we also distributed sanitary pads,” Lepheana said.

During the handover of the food, only five learners where allowed inside the school’s premises to collect the food while others queued outside the school’s gate, observing the social-distancing protocol.

Ward 45 Clr Makhosi Lehari also came through to show support towards the school’s initiative.

One of the community members, Paul Masilo, also donated breakfast packs which included bread, egg, chips, snacks and juice.
