Boksburg South mostly quiet during lockdown

The Advertiser, however, noticed several beggars on the roads, including Kingsfisher Avenue and Rondebult Road.

Streets in Boksburg South were quiet when the Advertiser visited the area on April 15 to see if people are adhering to the lockdown rules.

It seemed that people in Freeway Park and Parkrand are staying at home. There were only a few cars on the roads, and the minimum individuals were seen walking in the streets.

Streets in Sunward Park were also quiet and queues in front of supermarkets in shopping centres like Sunward Centre and Sunward Park Lifestyle Centre seemed shorter than it was at the beginning of lockdown.

The Advertiser, however, noticed several beggars on roads like Kingsfisher Avenue and Rondebult Road.

Excellent Semino was spotted asking people for money near the Sunward Park Centre.

The Windmill Park resident explained that he is in need of funds to provide for his wife and three kids.

“I have to do something to put bread on the table. I can’t just sit at home and do nothing while my family is suffering,” he told the Advertiser.

He stressed he is afraid of getting arrested during the lockdown.

“The police are chasing us and said they can arrest us,” he said.

Due to the lockdown Excellent is also not making as much money as he used to.

Excellent is in need if food parcels, clothing and said he would appreciate it if somebody could offer him a job.

He is willing to do any job and can be contacted on 078 856 9148.
